Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance
Inspiring Dancers Since 1952
If you are from Chatham, New York or the surrounding Columbia County area you likely know someone who has danced with Muriel at Faxon Dance. Inspiring dancers since the early 1950’s with our Broadway styled dance. We believe that the basics of tap dancing and learning rhythms and counts carry over into other practices. All dancers begin with tap and are introduced to other forms of dance (jazz and hip hop) when ready.
Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance is family owned and operated.
Explore Our Classes
Our dancing school specializes in teaching a variety of dance styles, including tap, jazz, and hip hop. We tailor our classes to suit the skill level and age of our students and maintain a fun environment for students to explore and master new dance forms.
Dance classes begin in the fall and end in the spring. The months spent working on technique, skills, and choreography culminate with a final show/recital. The Muriel Scott Faxon School of Dance’s first recital was in 1952 and continues to this day. The recital takes place in the Chatham High School auditorium.
